As we all know, IQ is a measure of a person's intelligence as indicated by an intelligence test. It is the ratio of a person's mental age to their chronological age (multiplied by 100). The higher the number, the smarter. It was once thought that IQ is something we are born with and that it cannot be acquired through practice. However, various studies have shown that an individual can increase his/her IQ by performing activities that promote improvement of brain's functions. Here is a list of six easiest things you can do to increase your IQ.

1. Drinking hot Chocolate
A cup of hot chocolate can help energize your brain. Exchanging that cup of coffee on your desk with a cup of hot chocolate will increase your brain's ability to solve serious problems. Researcher from Nottingham university found that flavonoid, an antioxidant, contained in chocolate can help increase blood circulation to the brain for up to 3 hours. Ian McDonald,M.D., head of the research team, also pointed out that one of the benefits of chocolate is its ability to revitalize the brain during the time at which it has become weaken as a result of exhaustion or lack of sleep. The darker the chocolate, the more flavonoid it contains.

2. Listening to Music
It was once believed that classical music can help relaxed our brains. However, a recent study revealed that whether the music you listen to is a classical masterpiece like Mozart's or a heavy metal like Motorhead's, both types of music can equally help improve our brains' functions. New York Academy of Science(NYAS) found that listening to ones' favorite piece of music regardless of genre has a positive affect to the brain. Nature Magazine also reported that by having participants listen to music for a period of 10 minutes prior to a test resulted in those participants' higher test scores. This is an evidence that music can definitely help improve our IQs.

3. Sitting Upright
Have you ever felt that the longer you sit at your desk, the more your brain gets tire? One of the tip to help your brain stays sharp for a long period of time is to sit in an upright position. A recent study showed that sitting in an uncomfortable position will reduce the brain's ability to perform. Researchers at a University in Sweden explained that most people who suffered from dizziness at work were caused by sitting in awkward positions. For example, sitting in a crouching position will cause our spine to bend along with the vein that circulates blood to the brain. As a result, the brain does not receive enough quantity of blood to perform well due to the vein inefficient circulation of the blood. So, if possible, try to choose a chair that allows you to sit comfortably in an upright position.

4. Eating Meat
Apparently, nobody can work effectively on an empty stomach. Having an appropriate size of burger in your belly gives your body and brain the energy to perform your duty effectively. Simone Parkinson, a nutritionist, recommended that lamb which contains a large amount of iron and Vitamin B12 is good for revitalization of the brain. Also, adding egg yolk to your burger will give you colene which can help increase the brain's function. Vegetable can also help prevent stress caused by too much oxidant.

5. Taking diet supplements
This is a good news for those of you who like to workout in the gym along with taking diet supplements. A recent study revealed that creatine is not only good for building muscle but can also help increase brain's focusing and processing powers. Caroline Smiths, M.D., from University of Sydney explained that diet supplements can help increase brain's ability to perform complex tasks such as computing and problem solving. A research conducted by Harvard University's Department of Medicine in collaboration with University of Pennsylvania has found that sleeping can help us reminisce about materials that we studied earlier. Jeffery E. Bogen, M.D., head of the research team, mentioned that this indicates that sleeping not only help protect but also organize memories. Scientists at Standford University found that pillow effects sleeping in a way that good pillows will allow us to breath efficiently which results in a long and continuous sleep.
